A Parent, a Therapist, and a Believer in the Magic in all of Us

Hi there, I'm Taylor! I’m so glad you found your way here.

I’m a parent of two neuro-spicy kids, as well as a therapist who has the deep privilege of working closely with neurodiverse adults, kids and their families on a daily basis.

The story idea for Mira's Magical Mind was born from one very special little girl with Complex Motor Stereotypies (CMS) and Intense Imagery Movements (IIM), who has an incredible imagination. Spending time with her reminds me of how often kids are asked to tone themselves down, fit in, or hide the very things that make them shine. I wrote Mira’s Magical Mind with a simple but powerful wish: that no child ever feels embarrassed by the things that make them different. Because those things? That’s where the magic lives. I want kids to see themselves, not only in books that seek to teach acceptance and understanding for others, but also in books that are fun and fantastical and just like every other book they are inspired by... in books where the main character is not only just a little bit different, but also really, very cool. And in this case, magical!

This book is for the kids who flap, spin, wiggle, imagine, daydream, and doodle—who light up the world just by being themselves. It’s also for the grown-ups: the parents, teachers, and caregivers who truly see them. My hope is that Mira helps open up conversations, celebrates neurodiversity, and reminds every child that who they are is more than enough.

Thanks for being here, and stay in touch! It would mean so much to me to build a community around this exciting journey. I can’t wait to share more of Mira’s world with you!

All My Best,

Taylor
